Alpina is updating one of their dive watches for Baselworld 2016, and the result looks great in all four styles, which is saying a lot in a crowded field like vintage-inspired dive watches. The Alpina Watches Marketing Replica Seastrong Diver 300 Automatic watch forgoes the extreme monicker as well as the triple-date display, looking cleaner and more contemporary.

The cushion-shaped case of the Alpina Watches Racing Replica Seastrong Diver 300 Automatic seems to be just the right size at 44mm wide, and the redesign choices are right on the nose. The single date window is discreet enough to be tolerated by even the staunchest date window detractor, and each of the four color options are downright handsome. The options are: grey, navy blue, or burgundy bezel, each with white luminous markers, and finally, a black bezel with beige luminous markers.

Whichever you prefer, all of the Alpina Seastrong Diver 300 Automatic watches feature the unidirectional diving bezel, 300M of water resistance, a transparent case back (which we don’t have a shot of yet), and a screw in crown. The watch sits a hair over 13mm on the wrist, which is substantial without being overly bulky. The movement is unchanged, with the AL-525 automatic caliber, which operates at 28,800 vph and offers a power reserve of 38 hours. It’s a shame that power reserve is just short of a weekend-length 42 hours, being a real practical sweet spot.

Interestingly, the watch does not come standard on a rubber strap anymore, but on a leather strap. Alpina is going to offer a strap set with four different rubber straps, but unfortunately we don’t know the color options yet. Between the different color options on the watches and the straps, I just really can’t wait to see these in person. Moving on to the crown, it is so aesthetically pleasing, and is likely a hallmark that is not going to change for a while.

But in case you forgot, it’s a serious diver, it doesn’t look out of place at all gently dangling from the handle of your dive knife like in the above press photo or proudly posing next to the dive knife in the picture below. Once the fully threaded caseback is removed, the on site, skeletonized rotor, decorated with a gold seal, jumps in to perspective. The seal bears the Tutima emblem, the Greek letter tau. You can also observe the refined look of the pusher bearings. They are made of a single piece and continue within a just shaped opening in the case. The ending of the bead-blasted case, made of titanium, is excellent. The caseback indicates an image of a double-decker biplane. An interior case made from iron-nickel alloy protects the motion from magnetic fields.Alpina also gives its movement antimagnetic protection using a soft-iron inner case liner. Opening the completely threaded caseback reveals a movement which goes past Tutima’s modified ETA 7750: Alpina has developed its own chronograph movement, a challenge that huge producers often avoid.The automated Caliber AL-760 is based upon the three-hand Caliber AL-710. The chrono work is done by a separate, dial-side module. Its small number of components, just 96, is supposed to ensure greater durability. To decrease the amount of parts, Alpina had to use several tricks. The column wheel, for example, does not consist of several columns but is star-shaped. Alpina also takes another tack with its own clutch (which engages the motion with the timing mechanism once the chronograph is activated). The new layout is really a cross between a rocking pinion and a horizontal clutch. The clutch lever goes an arbor with two pinions to make a link between the lower, regular-time amount and the top, chronograph level.Despite the chronograph’s low amount of elements, the engineers could incorporate a flyback function. This permits the start of a new time period when the chronograph is running: when you press the lower chrono pusher, the hand strikes back to 12 o’clock and instantly starts moving again.
Gone is the derived mashup of tool and dress diver elements found on the Deadly Alpina Watches Watchuseek Replica Extreme Diver (reviewed here) version, in favor of a clean, timeless, and confident aesthetic that quietly brings priority to form more function — but hardly at the cost of the latter, since the Alpina Seastrong Diver 300 Automatic remains a 300-meter dive watch, after all.In fact, I would even argue that the most striking design element is truly the lack thereof. And shine they do — as the applied polished surrounds play with almost any available lighting, while the luminous centers glow reassuringly back from the dark. Granted, there is not a great deal of luminous paint them — but a 1000-lumen blast in the LED flashlight was more than enough to keep the dial legible to the wee hours of the morning. Conversely, the omission of many of the dial’s superfluous details such as a luminous second hand or a minute track triggers a distinct lack of accuracy, which may bother those who favor their sailors with more purposeful visual cues.However, this is not an ISO-rated diver, nor does it expect to be one — a mindset which I had been surprised to find extremely refreshing on the wrist. Instead, Alpina lets its confidence-inspiring build quality do the speaking, resulting in its own different aesthetic that felt as at home in an alpine lake, as it did around the conference table at the marina.
